Tuesday was a day of planting. Steve Davis was on hand to place orange flags with plant names on them for identification and to serve as a guide to where to plant and later to let volunteers know where the new plants are that require additional water and TLC as they become established during their first year. These were placed mostly in the native sections, along the path between entrances, in Lillian’s Meadow, 3 (manzanitas) above the red woods, and a couple in the Mediterranean section. All plants were caged and watered in. A list of plants follows:
Arctostaphylos glauca (Bigberry Manzanita)
Arctostaphylos glauca ‘Canyon Blush’ (Bigberry Manzanita selection)
Arctostaphylos rudis (Shagbark Manzanita)
Baccharis pilularis ‘San Bruno Lady’ female Coyote Brush)
Ceanothus hearstiorum (Hearst Ranch buckbrush)
Cistus x cobariensis ‘Second Honeymoon’ (variegated Rockrose selection)
Corylos cornuta ssp Californica (California Hazel)
Eriophyllum staechadifolium (Seaside Wooly Sunflower)
Iris ‘Pacific Hybrid’ (native Iris)
Lepechinia fragrans (Fragrant Pitcher Sage)
Salvia chamaedryoides (Germander Sage)
Seslaria selection (Moorgrass)
Contributing to the planting effort were: Dale Harshberger, Beverly Kemmerling, Katie Shank, Daryl Stutley, Nancy Taylor Walker, Janet Wall, Marna Wensil, Anna Wiktor-Becker, Ann Wright and myself. Bill Dobner was also on site managing the compost.
How many garden volunteers does it take to screw in a light bulb, I mean plant a new plant...

Finally, I think this normally spring-blooming narcissus in Lillian’s Meadow is confused.

Enjoy the garden! KMM

In Slope Game, the spirit of skill-based play truly shines — it’s easy to start but nearly impossible to master. This level of challenge pushes players to chase that one perfect run.
