You’re probably wondering what sort of an update this could be given the events of the last week.

We knew it was predicted to be windy, but such predictions sometimes don’t come to pass, so we decided to see what the conditions were when we got to the garden.  They were bad, and we aborted the work day on the spot.  New volunteer Ann Wright got to meet some of the Tuesday Crew and they got to meet her before we returned to our respective houses.  My house was without power and remained so into Friday night.

For tomorrow we made no such assumptions (that conditions might allow a work day).  The garden is closed until the wind event ends and we won’t meet until the following week — assuming the Santa Ana’s have calmed down by then!

Stay safe.  And keep your go-bag handy!    KMM

Thanks for these great ideas! I’m itching to get back to my garden, but the weather has been so gloomy lately. While waiting for the soil to dry out, I’ve been spending way too much time on minigame—those mini-games are quite addictive! Hopefully, the sun comes out soon so I can start on those January tasks.

It’s also unfortunate that the impact extended beyond the Cute Games garden, with power outages affecting daily life. Situations like this show how vulnerable community activities are to environmental conditions, and how important it is to have flexible plans and clear communication when things suddenly change.
