Bird Habitat |

Begun in 1996, the WESTLAKE VILLAGE GARDEN CLUB, AMGEN and SOKA University contributed time, expertise and money to restore a weedy slop to beauty and usefulness.
The bird habitat is one-third acre in size. It has a fresh water source that is an essential feature to attract local and migratory birds. A grape covered arbor was installed in 1998 by a grant from Shell Oil Company's PETALS program (Protect the Environment Through Action Learning and Service) through National Council of State Garden Clubs, Inc., with matching funds donated by the Westlake Village Garden Club to help shelter bird watchers. With the development of urban communities, many areas of natural wildlife habitat are disappearing. The Garden realized it had an ideal site for the creation of a garden especially designed to protect and sustain birds.
